The country’s largest trade union, Siptu is set to serve notice of industry action to commence from the start of next month on the Dublin Airport Authority as part of a row over pensions.

The action is expected to involve two-hour work stoppages starting from October 1st.

A Siptu spokesman said the action arose as a result of new “unfair funding standards” being required by the pension regulator on private companies.

A spokesman for the Dublin Airport Authority said it had not received any formal notice of industrial action.

"We would be very disappointed if such notice were served, as we are currently in a conciliation process in relation to the pensions issue under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).

“To serve notice of industrial action at this time while the LRC process is ongoing would be unwarranted and will merely cause unnecessary concern and inconvenience to the travelling public."
