A group of four Sinn Féin TDs has handed in a letter of protest at the British Embassy in Dublin over the "politically motivated" raid on their party's Stormont offices.

As a delegation from their party met the British Prime Minister Mr Tony Blair in Downing Street, the four TDs arrived in Ballsbridge to express their "anger and concern" at the latest developments.

Kerry North deputy Mr Martin Ferris said the raid was "a stage-managed effort to politically facilitate the withdrawal of Ulster Unionist Party members from the Executive".

He was joined by fellow TDs Mr Aengus Ó Snodaigh, Mr Seán Crowe and Mr Arthur Morgan.

Mr Ferris called on the British government not to suspend the Northern Ireland institutions and instead proceed with the implementation of the Belfast Agreement.

Three people, including Sinn Féin party administrator at Stormont, Mr Denis Donaldson, have been charged in connection with the raid last Friday.
