Sinn Fein has outlined its demands for the immediate dismantling of British army installations and the withdrawal of troops from Northern Ireland and yesterday claimed the British government's refusal to demilitarise was in breach of the Belfast Agreement.

A party document given to the British government outlines "a precise timetable" encompassing all elements of the demilitarisation programme and claims that there has been a "stubborn refusal" by the British government to remove observation posts.

An accompanying map pinpoints 236 British army installations and RUC stations. Ms Michelle Gildernew, the Sinn Fein MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, said there had been no move on demilitarisation in Border areas and in some cases installations were being fortified. The security threat posed by dissident republicans was no justification for the heavy security presence, she said.
