A body has been recovered from the sea near Doolin in Co Clare, the second such discovery in a week.

A search was mounted yesterday after the crew of a local ferry reported seeing what they believed to be a body in the water between Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher. The ferry had been taking sightseers on a cliff cruise at the time.

The skipper reported the sighting to the Irish Coast Guard, which immediately mounted a search and recovery operation.

The body, believed to be that of a man, was seen in the sea between O’Brien’s Tower at the Cliffs of Moher and Aill na Searrach to the north. The Doolin Coast Guard unit dispatched teams by sea and road.
