Gardai in Ennis, Co Clare, are investigating an alleged rape on a teenage girl. According to Insp Michael Barry, the girl was found in a distressed state by a passing motorist on the roadside five miles from Ennis just before 3 a.m. last Sunday.
Insp Barry said the girl had attended a disco in Ennis on Saturday night. He was not able to say how she became separated from her friends. "It is the early part of the investigation," he said. "We have no definite description of the culprit, who was driving a car."
