AN APPLICATION which would force an all Afrikaner school in the northern Transvaal to accept black pupils has been delayed until Friday, Edward O'Loughlin reports.

The application, which was to be heard today, was brought by the Northern Province government last week after parents at the all white school in Potgietersrus voted to continue preventing three black children from entering the school.

The postponement follows an application by lawyers representing the school's ruling parent body, which asked for more time to respond.

The Northern Province government, which is dominated by the African National Congress, said it would seek to have the school closed down, or its state funding terminated, if it did not abandon unconstitutional racial discrimination.
