RTÉ has confirmed this evening that Mr Cathal Goan will replace Mr Bob Collins as director-general at the broadcaster.
Mr Collins is retiring this October. Mr Goan moves from TG4 which he joined in 1994. He has been with RTÉ since 1979.
Mr Goan was appointed Director of RTÉ Television and a member of the RTÉ Executive Board in March 2001.
