TEL AVIV-Yigal Amir, the convicted murderer of former Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, announced in court yesterday that he was going on hunger strike to protest the conditions of his detention.

Amir faced further charges of conspiring to commit anti Arab attacks with his brother, Hagai, and a third Jewish extremist.
