The area has been the scene of violent clashes between rival nationalist and loyalist mobs in recent weeks.

Yesterday, a CCTV camera in north Belfast was destroyed by nationalists claiming it is being used to spy upon them. It was fired at and had tyres burned around its base.

The security camera was installed in Estoril Park, in the Ardoyne. A PSNI spokeswoman said it had been hit by "high velocity gunfire".

The camera is close to the Ardoyne shops area which will be passed by Orangemen on tomorrow's Twelfth of July marches.
