A PSNI officer was struck over the head with a bottle after trouble flared in the Glenkeen area of Dunmurry, Belfast this morning.

Police used CS spray to disperse a mob that confronted officers at around 1.40am.

Police said they were called out to deal with a dispute between residents, but a crowd confronted them leading to violent scenes.

No arrests were made and the wounded officer did not need hospital treatment.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland blamed the incident on excess alcohol and urged any witnesses to contact the force.
