Priest finds man's body in Carlow

The body of a man was found outside a presbytery in Carlow town this morning.

The body of a man was found outside a presbytery in Carlow town this morning.

The man in his 60s was found by a local priest at the entrance to the property on the Old Dublin Road in the town at about 8am.

The dead man is believed to have been a resident of the nearby St Vincent de Paul hostel.

A cause of death has not yet been established, and foul play has not been ruled out, according to a Garda spokesman.

State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy has been called, and the scene has been sealed off.
