Seoul - South Korean prosecutors yesterday called for a seven-year jail term for President Kim Young-sam's son on charges of bribery and tax evasion. In a further blow to the President's dwindling prestige in his last months of rule, prosecutors also demanded that Mr Kim Hyun-chul (38) pay $5.23 million in penalties.

Senior prosecutor, Mr Lee Hoon-kyu, told a Seoul criminal court the corruption scandal involving the president's second son and a former top intelligence official, Kim Ki-sup, "disappointed and shocked" South Koreans.
