Libreville - President Pierre Buyoya of Burundi, whom soldiers tried to oust on Wednesday in an abortive coup attempt, left Gabon yesterday to return home, Gabonese officials said.

Soldiers seized the state radio station in Bujumbura on Wednesday in a coup attempt, but had all surrendered peacefully to loyalist forces by early yesterday morning.
