DANA WAS interviewed by Stephen J Costello in a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation in his book, The Irish Soul in Dialogue(Liffey Press, 2001). Her views on homosexuality were examined in detail and the discussion took an usual turn when Costello asked: "What do you thing of Dana International, who recently won the Eurovision, who is a great fan of yours and who created a huge controversy among the Orthodox Jews in Israel because he is a transsexual?" Dana replied: "I wasn't in the country at the time. I was quite upset that he was better looking than me!"
