Chatan - Police questioned a US airman for a sixth day yesterday in the suspected rape of a young Japanese woman on the island of Okinawa but there was no sign US forces were ready to hand him over despite rising anger and pleas from politicians.
The Foreign Minister, Ms Makiko Tanaka, expressed concern that the Independence Day holiday yesterday may further delay a US decision.
