Ailing comedian Ernie Wise continued his recovery by tucking into a specially-baked cake to celebrate his wedding anniversary, his wife Doreen said yesterday. The 73-year-old star - who is in a Florida hospital after suffering two heart attacks in quick succession - managed four mouthfuls after being largely fed through a tube for the past few weeks.
It was the couple's 46th anniversary yesterday but they preferred to celebrate the day before because they were actually married on a Sunday.
