Two men aged 17 and 22 were arrested yesterday afternoon after gardaúí stopped and searched a car at Ballyblood, Tulla, Co Clare and found drug paraphernalia and cartridges.
Then men are being held at Killaloe Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
During follow up searches, a suspicious device was found in a house on Main Street, Tulla at 7.30pm. The area was immediately sealed off and an army bomb disposal team were called in. Nearby homes were evacuated.
The area was declared safe at 11.50pm and the remains of the device were handed over to the gardaí. It was described as being viable.
