London - Slightly more than a third of people believe Britain would be better off without the monarchy, according to a poll published today. Some 34 per cent of people questioned for a Guardian/ICM survey took that view, while 51 per cent said Britain would be worse off. Between 1987 and 1994 repeated polls showed more than 70 per cent were in favour of the royal family.
