No joy for Munster at Ravenhill

Ulster 23 Munster 18

Munster’s preparations for next month’s Heineken Cup final were dealt a blow tonight as they ran out 23-18 losers at the hands of Ulster in the Guinness Interprovincial Championship at Ravenhill.

Tries from Peter Stringer and Paul O’Connell gave Declan Kidney’s men a 18-16 advantage with minutes remaining but a late rally from the Northerners led to a Neil Doak try which Paddy Wallace duly converted.

Leinster had already clinched the title with their 49-20 defeat of Connacht last night.
