Nine elected without a vote

Voters in Loughrea, Co Galway, will not be electing a town council in next month's local elections. Ten nominations were received for the June 11th ballot to select new Loughrea town commissioners. When one nomination was withdrawn, an election to the nine-member council became superfluous.
