Ahmedabad - A tremor measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale yesterday hit the western Indian state of Gujarat, still recovering from a giant earthquake that killed an estimated 30,000 people in January.

Residents of high-rise apartments in Ahmedabad, the state's biggest city, ran out of their homes in panic, but there were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
