The chief commissioner of the new Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has called for an independent investigation into the murder of the Lurgan solicitor, Ms Rosemary Nelson.

Addressing the UN Commission on Human Rights in Geneva yesterday, Prof Brice Dickson said the investigation had to be "as independent of the RUC as was practicable in all the circumstances".
