A London-based consortium of Irish businessmen, Harinbrook Properties, which is developing a holiday village at Lough Muckno in Co Monaghan, issued a statement yesterday rejecting claims that they intended to sell off the property.
Mr Seamus Quinn, a spokesman for Harinbrook, said they were responding to calls made at a public meeting at Hope Castle, Castleblayney, at the weekend, where protesters were insisting the property was being sold and local community access denied.
He said: "It is incorrect to say that the developments are contrary to the interests of the local community. We plan to make this a top holiday destination halfway between Dublin and Belfast."
