A man in his 20s has died in a road crash in Cavan.

A man in his 20s has died in a road crash in Cavan.

The man's motorcycle was in collision with a car at 11.30am at Lavey on the N3, on the Dublin side of the town.

The two occupants of the car were removed to Cavan General Hospital with serious injuries, a Garda statement said.

"The scene of the collision has been sealed off for technical examination and diversions are in place. anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the gardaí at Cavan station."

Gardaí today named the 21-year-old man killed in a crash near Kilmore Quay in CoWexford on September 7th.  He was Ciaran O'Dowd of Barntown, Co Wexford.

More than 230 people have died in road crashes this year in 208 separate collisions, according to most recent Garda statistics.  The total number of people who have died on the roads to September 7th, at 230, is down by 29 on the same day last year.
