Two men charged with sexually assaulting a woman they gave a lift to claimed to gardai she consented to them kissing her breasts, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.

The two men are pleading not guilty to sexually assaulting the woman, falsely imprisoning her and assaulting her causing actual bodily harm at an unknown place in Dublin on July 12th, 1997.

Sgt John Ward said the first defendant claimed the woman put her hands between his legs while kissing the other man, and that she then began kissing him. He continued kissing her after the other man took over driving. His companion asked him why he was not "doing it". He replied that he would take her into the back of the van but suddenly found her unattractive.

They brought her home and he said that he would see her again but she did not answer.
