Men charged with murders of married Armagh couple

Two men were remanded in custody yesterday charged with the murders of a husband and wife in Co Armagh.

Two men were remanded in custody yesterday charged with the murders of a husband and wife in Co Armagh.

Malcolm McKeown (46) and James Carlisle (31) are accused of shooting suspected drug dealers Hugh and Jacqueline McGeough in their Craigavon home last March.

They were remanded by a district judge in Lisburn Magistrates Court. The defendants’ addresses were given as HMP Maghaberry, Co Antrim.

Mr and Mrs McGeough were found dead in their home at Legahory Court. Mr McGeough had been shot once and his wife three times.

The two accused have also been charged with firearms offences.

A 19-year-old man arrested as part of the murder probe earlier this week has been released pending a report to prosecutors.
