Meat found in a container on an isolated commercial property outside Tipperary town on Thursday has been destroyed following its discovery by gardai and Department of Agriculture officials. A total of 2.5 tonnes of beef, fish and poultry was found in the refrigerated container during a day-long search of the premises near the village of Monard.

Customs officers were also called in when 80 bottles of contraband whiskey were found in the same container.
