Liverpool - The former Beatle Paul McCartney unpacked his guitar last for a nostalgic return to the Liverpool club which propelled him and three other unknowns to international stardom.
Millions of people logged on to the Internet to watch as Sir Paul McCartney plugged in his bass guitar at The Cavern Club in Liverpool for the first time in 36 years. As in the old days, McCartney played to a live audience of just 300 people in the packed club. But this time, Beatles fans from around the world were able to watch the 45-minute, 13-song concert via the Internet.
"I'm elated. I can't think of a better place to be," McCartney said after the show. "I always knew it would be a special night but this is better than I could have hoped. We wanted to rock out the century - we did it, we rocked Liverpool and the world bopped too."
He sang: Honey Hush; Blue Jean Bop; Brown-eyed Handsome Man; Fabulous; What It Is; Lonesome Town; Twenty Flight Rock; No Other Baby; Try Not To Cry; Shake A Hand; All Shook Up; I Saw Her Standing There; Encore: Party.
Thousands watched the performance beamed from the club to a 20 ft screen at the nearby Chavaffe Park.
