The British woman charged with perverting the course of justice in connection with the death of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman will be allowed give evidence by video link in court tomorrow.

Ms Maxine Carr's court hearing is due to take place in Peterborough tomorrow. It will be the 25-year-old's second court hearing.

Allowing Ms Carr to give video evidence from prison in Holloway, north London, would avoid a repeat of the angry scenes outside the court last week when a crowd of about 500 shouted abuse, threw eggs and waved banners calling for the return of capital punishment.

Meanwhile, the parents of the schoolgirls have had their daughters’ remains returned.

Death certificates for the two 10-year-olds were issued by the Cambridgeshire coroner yesterday afternoon but detectives may have to wait "some time" before knowing the results of toxicology tests on the girls' bodies.

Private funeral services are expected to be held next week following a public memorial service on Friday at Ely Cathedral.
