Police in the North are investigating a robbery in which a man held up an off-licence with an axe before making off with vodka.

The robber threatened staff at the shop in Rosemount Avenue, Derry, yesterday at around 3.30pm. He then made off with two bottles of vodka.

There were no injuries during the incident.

Police said he made his escape on foot, possibly along nearby Montrose Gardens. The man has been described as being 5ft 3in, with short grey hair and slim build.
