Man shot dead outside Dublin's Cloverhill Prison

A man has been shot dead outside Cloverhill Prison in Clondalkin, west Dublin.

A man has been shot dead outside Cloverhill Prison in Clondalkin, west Dublin.

It is understood  the 24-year-old victim was sitting in car outside the prison at around 3.15 p.m. waiting for another man, who was visiting an inmate.

A motorbike then approached with two people aboard.  The man, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was shot through the window three times.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Tallaght General Hospital.

The incident is being investigated by gardaí, who have sealed off the area pending an examination by Garda Technical Officers.
