A 24-year-old man was remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a 14 week-old baby boy who died in Belfast at the weekend.

Mr Ryan Leslie, Ballyvessey Green, New Mossley, Newtownabbey, appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning following the death of his son Cameron on Saturday.

The baby boy was taken to Antrim Area hospital on Thursday before being transferred to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children where he died on Saturday.

He was suffering from a number of serious injuries.

A PSNI detective inspector told the court he could connect Mr Leslie to the charge. He confirmed during cross-examination that the accused had co-operated with police and had provided an account during extensive interviews.
