A 67-year-old Galway man has pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to nine representative counts of indecent assault on three nieces. His guilty plea came minutes before a jury was sworn in for his trial scheduled to begin yesterday.
He has been remanded on bail until January 18th for sentence.
He originally faced a total of 156 charges of rape, incest and other sexual offences on dates between 1978 and 1995.
The three victims were about five to six years of age when their uncle began abusing them.
