A man died and two other men were injured following a rush-hour road collision in Dublin's city centre yesterday.

A man died and two other men were injured following a rush-hour road collision in Dublin's city centre yesterday.

The collision, which occurred shortly before 8 a.m. at Butt Bridge, involved a van and two motorcycles.

The driver of the van and the two motorcyclists were taken to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. One of the motorcyclists, a man in his 20s, died later yesterday.

Meanwhile, the driver of a horse-and-trap involved in an accident with a car in north Co Louth has died in hospital. Mr Aidan Hoey (20), Freeduff Road, Cullyhanna, Co Armagh, was thrown from the trap and died from his injuries at the Louth County Hospital in Dundalk yesterday.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the accident which happened at Rassan, near Hackballscross at 8 p.m. on Monday.
