Detectives in West Belfast are appealing to the public for information following a paramilitary-style shooting in the city last night.

The alarm was raised shortly after 11.15pm when police received a report that a man had been shot in the Hawthorn Road area of the city.

The 45-year-old victim was shot twice in the legs.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
