A 22-year old man from the Short Strand area of Belfast appeared in court today charged with firebombing the Smyth's toy store in the south of the city.

Craig Anthony, from Clandeboye Drive, was charged with causing an explosion with intent to endanger life or property on November 1.

The charge relates to an incendiary attack at the toy store at Shane Retail Park on the Boucher Road.

A detective sergeant from the PSNI told Magistrate Ken Nixon he believed he could connect the accused to the offence.

Mr Nixon remanded Anthony in custody and ordered he appear before the same court, via video link, on December 18.
