A Coleraine man had a close escape last night when a shot was fired through his front door.

Two masked men, one armed with a shotgun, called at the victim's door at 11.45 p.m. in Hazelbank Road.

On seeing the first of the masked men, the target shut his door and ducked for cover just as the second man fired a single shot.

The victim sustained minor head injuries from shattering glass as the bullet pierced his front door.

The men fled in a stolen car that was later found burnt out at a picnic area in Artaclave, near the town. Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
