Edinburgh - A 33-year old man from Glasgow was found guilty yesterday of recklessly infecting his girlfriend with HIV through having sex, a court official said.

Stephen Kelly had denied the charge of culpable and reckless conduct after his then partner, Ms Anne Craig (34), contracted the virus that causes AIDS.

He was said to have had sex with her several times during a relationship in 1994, even though he knew he was HIV positive.

The court heard that he had not told Ms Craig he was carrying the virus before they had sex for the first time, even though he had known 18 months earlier that he was infected as a result of injecting heroin while serving a prison sentence.
