A man has been arrested after another man was found dead in a barrel in a field near Ennis, Co Clare this morning.
The body of Eoin Ryan (21) was found on a farm at Cappah Beg, near Barefield, at about 7am. It is understood he suffered a violent assault.
A man in his early 30s has been arrested and is being detained at Ennis Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The area is currently sealed off pending a Garda forensic examination and the body remains at the scene.
Investigating gardaí have appealed to anybody who may have been in the area of Cappabeg between yesterday evening and this morning, or who may have information to contact gardaí.
Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to any taxi drivers working in the area last night.
