A south Monaghan man was sent for trial by Judge Flann Brennan at Carrickmacross District Court yesterday when he appeared on a sex assault charge.

The accused man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was alleged to have committed the assault on a young female at Main Street, Carrickmacross, on January 27th contrary to the Criminal Law Rape Amendment Act. He was sent for trial to the next sitting of Monaghan Circuit court in January.
