A 19-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with attempted murder after an incident at an Antrim checkpoint.

A police officer manning a vehicle checkpoint in Co Antrim yesterday morning had to jump clear of a car after it broke through the checkpoint.

The incident happened  on the Doagh Road, Ballyclare, in Co Antrim, shortly after 1.45am.

The suspect also faces other motoring offences.
