Man dies in hospital following Kerry assault

A man in his fifties died in hospital this afternoon following an alleged family row in Co Kerry.

A man in his fifties died in hospital this afternoon following an alleged family row in Co Kerry.

Mr Jeremiah McDonagh of 41 Ballygologue Park, Listowel, died following a period in a critical condition on a life-support machine at Tralee General Hospital.

Mc Donagh was allegedly assaulted at his home on Wednesday night. Mr Thomas Mc Donagh (26) of no fixed address, appeared at Dingle District Court this afternoon charged in connection with the incident.

The accused was remanded to appear before Shanagolden District Court on October 2nd.

Gardai are not making any link between the assault and the Mr McDonagh's death.

A man been remanded in custody in connection with an assault on a house in Listowel, Co Kerry on Wednesday night.

A post mortem will be carried out later today.
