A man has appeared in court in Co Meath charged with the murder of David Sharkey, who was found dead in the boot of his own crashed car in Dublin last Sunday night.

Stephen Penrose (26) of no fixed address appeared before Trim District Court this morning charged with the murder of Mr Sharkey on May 17th.

There was no application for bail and Mr Penrose was remanded in custody for a week.

A woman held in connection with the murder was released last night without charge. Gardai said a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Three people in total have been questioned about the murder of Mr Sharkey (28), who was found dead in the boot of his BMW car at St Joseph's Park, off Dunsink Lane in Finglas, at about 10pm on Sunday.
