A man has been arrested following an armed robbery in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

A man has been arrested following an armed robbery in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Shortly before 11 am yesterday two armed men stole a substantial amount of money from a security van which was making a cash delivery to the Bank of Ireland on Frederick Street.

The men were wearing baseball caps and fluorescent jackets and escaped in a white van heading towards Swords. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

Yesterday evening a man in his twenties from the north side of Dublin was arrested and is being detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
