A man has been arrested following the seizure of thousands of counterfeit DVDs during a search of an apartment in Dublin's northside today.

A number of multi drawer DVD burners, copiers, scanners and printers were also seized during the operation carried out by the the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and officers from The Garda National Immigration Bureau.

A 24-year-old Chinese man was arrested and brought to the Bridewell Garda Station where he has charged under the Immigration Act. He was brought before Dublin District court where he was remanded in custody until next Wednesday.

A garda spokesperson said the items recovered had a combined value of around €300,000.
