A Central Criminal Court jury who yesterday acquitted a Wexford man of raping and sexually assaulting his former partner has failed to reach a verdict on a charge of false imprisonment.

The 35-year-old accused had pleaded not guilty to the aggravated sexual assault, oral rape and false imprisonment of the woman at her home on August 6th, 2007.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy ordered that the remaining charge be put forward on the next available list for re-trial.
