A man was accused at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday of stabbing a woman who is critically ill in hospital

A man was accused at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday of stabbing a woman who is critically ill in hospital. Mr John McDonagh (33), from Churchill House, in the New Lodge area, was remanded in custody on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm.

The 33-year-old woman was stabbed four times when she was attacked in her home at Ligoniel on Thursday.
