A male pedestrian died last night after he was hit by a car while walking along a road in Co Kerry.

A male pedestrian died last night after he was hit by a car while walking along a road in Co Kerry.

The 64-year-old man died after the incident in Beale, Ballybunion at 5.30 yesterday evening.

Gardai today named the 19-year-old man who died in

crash in north Co Dublin yesterday morning. Christopher O'Toole of Edenmore Avenue, Coolock died and two others were injured in when the car in which they were travelling went out of control and crashed at Kinsealy Lane at around 3 a.m.

The two injured men were brought to Beaumont Hospital, where one is in a critical condition. The second man is less seriously hurt.

Eighty people have died on the State's roads so far this year, an increase of 26 on the same period last year. Gardai and the National Safety Council yesterday launched a road safety campaign targeting speeding in the run-up to St Patrick's Day festivities.
