A Louth man has gone on trial charged with having sexual intercourse with a mentally impaired woman during 1995. The jury is to return to court today to begin hearing evidence in the case, having been sent away yesterday to allow legal argument to take place in its absence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
The 42 year old defendant has pleaded not guilty to having sexual intercourse with a mentally impaired woman who was not his wife on July 19th, 1995. He has also pleaded not guilty to a second charge of sexually assaulting the woman on the same date.
