November 23rd has been designated a national "Music Awareness Day" in a joint venture by the ESB and Music Network, the body set up 10 years ago by the Arts Council to encourage the development of music throughout the State.

Communities are encouraged to organise musical activities to mark the day and there will be special events in three regional centres Clifden, Co Galway; Tinahely, Co Wicklow; and Cahir, Co Tipperary.
